Challenges of Schools

  • The ASCA recommends a student/counselor ratio of 250:1. In reality, the ratio is 424:1
  • 30% of freshmen drop out of college
  • 40% of remaining students “flip flop” their major 3 times

Walk the Walk© is a complete and personalized 4-year career exploration program, open to the entire student body, that paves the path forward by walking a student through career exploration with Holland Score assessment data returns, online career matching tools, resume and portfolio building, completes in grade 11 or 12 with continued education matching and an aggressive integrated Dropout Prevention Module.

Walk the Walk not only engages students early in career awareness and aptitude screenings but also adds tutorials in supporting subjects and links to state and federal sites for funding and career outlooks.

"Doug Shirley's work with at risk students is innovative and straightforward. There is a "common sense" pragmatism that he ties to unabashed idealism with the thought that "you CAN make a difference in the lives of young people." Doug Shirley's dedication to these core principles throughout his career drives him to want to see all students be successful in their whole life. This comes with the understanding that meaningful career choices are a tremendous aid to lifetime success."
